Tips when working behind your bar

  Up selling procedures is a way of improving your sales behind the bar. It is ways of making a guest buy more by using your knowledge to suggest to them a premium spirit or suggesting buying a bottle.
 Your guests are more important part of a bar. Without them you would not get paid or ecen have a job, so it is very important to keep them happy. You will learn how to treat certain guests. For example you wouldn't treat/act the same for a group of girls/guys than you would a couple.

 Tips. The biggest question on everyone lips is "How can I make morr tips"? There is a very easy answer to this. Imagine you were on the other side of the bar. What would you expect the bartender to do for you to leave him /her a tip?

 A bell is a very useful tool to have on the bar. Every time you receive a tip you ring the bell. This will make your guests wondee why you have a bell and what are you ringing it for. You explain that it is for tips, which might encourage them to give you a tip next time you serve them.

Guidelines to correct bar service
*always place the drink in front of the guest
*keep the bar top clean at all times
*every drink should have a napkin or bar mat
*do not use your hands to pick up or touch the ice
*clean ashtrays- 1butt theory
*return every bottle/equipment to its proper place
*always use a fresh glass for a guest
*make sure every drink has a garnish where appropriate
*always use to hands
Multiple guest service this is a very good skill to learn as it improves you as abartender, increases sales and also helps out in tips. When you get busy behind the bar it id best if yiu csn learn how to serve more than one person at a time. There are different techniques to doing thid and some of you will come uo with your oen methods. As you will be serving more than one person there will be more drinks to remember so you will be shown how to remember all the drinks and also the quickest way to make them. When your guests are ordering their drinks find the appropriate glassware and libe it all up on the bar. One line for one order. Then once you have enought that you can remember all the drinks, make them. Lining up al the glassware helps your remember the drinks because of the glassware you have on your bar. It also shows the guests you haven't forgotten about their order and they will be impressed when you make all the drinks and remember all, which could procoke them to give you a tip. This is a good method if your guests are ordering a lot of different types of drinks, cocktails, wines, beers, champagne.
